I love this movie. It is funny and witty. Dustin Hoffman is fantastic as Dorothy Michaels. He really makes you believe the act as well as his comments as Michael Dorsey about being a woman are classic. You really think he enjoys it. And the spiderweb of love and emotions just make you laugh. I have seen this movie many times and will watch it many more. I highly recommend this movie. Bill Murray is also in it and as always makes me laugh. He is a fantastic actor. Watch this movie. It is by Mel Brooks and was a hit on Broadway. I wish I could see it on Broadway. It is hillarious. It is about two producers out to make the worse play ever and it turns out to be a success. The music was excellent and acting fantastic. Matthew Broderick was awesome, still adorable as always (you can see his age though compared to Ferris Bueller) I guess everyone gets old sometime. And I was worried that Mel Brooks didn't make his apperance as he always does in his movies. . . but watch until the end of the credits (they just finished as I type) he's there. I would recommend this, watch it once. It'll make you chuckle if not laugh out loud. The outtakes are ok too. Watch them :)

Pop Quiz: There is a bomb on a bus

I was so excited to see that one of my all time favourite movies was in my book, and that I would have to watch it again for the 5 millionth time! Speed has been one of my favourites since I saw it the first time at the drive in. It was playing with True Lies (which is also in the book and another favourite). I don't know why I love this movie so much. Maybe its because I wanted to be Annie, maybe I just wanted to end up with Jack. You can't go wrong there with Keanu. The more I watch it the more I find it more cheezy then the first time. I notice more and more inconsistancies. I know it practically off by heart. But it never gets old. Who would have thought that a movie about a bomb on a bus would have so many great lines as well as keep you engaged the entire time! I LOVE THIS MOIVE! I don't think this will be a movie I will ever get sick of. It came out 13 years ago and I still watch it at least once a month. Watch this moive! I was expecting more of the first movie with added adventure and more developed characters. It wasn't until about 1 hour and 45 minutes into the movie I saw the first sword fight that had me on the edge of the couch. Yes I will give the special effects a shout out, and the story was good to begin with but it just seemed to drag out to me. I felt the movie was also lacking the known Jack Sparrow humor. There were only a few moments in the movie that made me laugh out loud. I was really looking forward to this movie and all the hype it was getting. So many people told me it was so fantastic as well. I beg to differ. I hope the next one goes back to the roots of a real pirate moive with the sword fights and humor in it we saw in the first Pirate's movie.

Those who are tardy do not get fruit cup

Mel Brooks - is fantastic. I have not seen all of his films but I am in the process of watching them all. This again was another movie that was not on the list but the hubby and I watched it. High Anxiety is the film. It is a spoof of many Hitchcock films. It was an excellent movie. If I had seen the Hitchcock movies that he was spoofing I'm sure it would have been more funny, yet Mel still makes me laugh so hard. I bought the Mel Brooks collection with 8 of his movies. Most I have not seen. I am excited to see the rest. I would recommend watching this one. My parents said I had to watch this movie so I did with them this evening. After the comment "This music is better when you are stoned." I knew I was in for a weird movie. It was The Doors. With Val Kilmer and Meg Ryan. It documents the story of Jim Morrison. The acting was teriffic, the story was interesting but it was a very odd movie. I guess if you are a big Doors fan you would appreciate it more. The music was good. I don't necessairly know that I would go out and buy it but it was well different. People were messed up in the 70s. Anyways an odd movie, not quite sure about it. . . I think it would have made more sense if I was stoned.

Yo Ho, Yo Ho A Pirates Life For Me

Last night after a 30 minute debate on which movie to watch with my husband we both agreed on Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Who doesn’t love Jack Sparrow. Without this character the movie would be nothing. Johnny Depp brings this character alive with unique mannerisms as well as humor that no matter how many times you see the movie you will laugh. The supporting cast is excellent as well. And the story line keeps you watching. I remember seeing this in theatres and fighting with my husband over not wanting to see a ‘pirate’ movie. Well he won that fight and I am glad he did. Ever since I saw it I thought it would be fun to try and watch every single movie in the book. (Some I have already seen) Today I finally picked it up and started the challenge. To document this adventure I decided I would blog my journey.

"Here you will find astonishing achievements in special effects before and after CGI, brave cinematographical experiments, courageous social commentary, staggering performances, debuts and swan-songs. With this book at your elbow you can start and stop angry debates, be stimulated, informed and amused and all before the lights go down and the credits roll. But then, please watch the films described here and form our own opinions."

From the Introduction of 501 Must See Movies.

So here it begins, 501 Movies lay before me to watch and form my own opinions. . .
I hope you enjoy this as much as I think I am going to :)
